Singing The Praises of the FCC

DXM appreciates our coverage of the coverage of the war:

”Thank God for C-SPAN, and The News Dissector!

“For any “news” about Lebanon, I’ve nearly given up reading the mainstream media that can’t help but demonize Hizballah in favor of Israel’s “defense” forces; no different than how western media generally projects their prejudice against Hamas and the Palestinians in Palestine. Even the so-called friendlies among the Democrats, and the “progressive” online publications don’t seem to understand that “enough” became “enough” along the way, and they’re siding with the wrong guys. 92% were in favor of the first Iraq (Desert Storm) war, the Operation Iraqi Liberation war also started out with a stolen majority of public opinion, and was promised no better a resolve.

Israel and the US are winning the propaganda war, in Israel and the US. But they’re losing in the kind of battle Hizballah is waging. To gain a clear victoryover guerilla fighters, the conventional forces hafta be about 10-1, or maybe it’s 100-1, or more. That ain’t happening, and if ever it did, the guerillas would simply dig in deeper and emerge to take their shot just slightly less often - like how we fought the Continental Army of King George during our own Revolutionary War….

Andrew Stone writes:

Well, it just wouldn’t be the Ninth of Av if there was not overflowing great sorrow for the peace loving Jews of this world. Whether it’s the destruction of the Temple (twice) or the destruction of the Mitvahs through a war of aggression, Tish B’Av is truly a great day of sadness for Jews and everyone else on this planet.”

THE STOP THE WAR COALITION IS MACHING IN THE UK SATURDAY

Organizers are asking protesters to bring children’s shoes:

Children are the main victims of the Bush and Blair wars. Almost half of those killed so far in Lebanon are children. They make up one third of the 3,225 injured, and about 45 per cent of the nearly one million Lebanese refugees are under the age of 18.

WE LOVE THE FCC

Finally from Sam Smith’s Progressive Review

My country used to be
Sweet land of liberty
That once was true
Until the FCC
Chose what we hear and see
On radio and on TV
FCC FU!

When you deny our choice
You censor every voice
That’s what you do
We’d say “go fly a kite”
But that’s far too polite
For stealing First Amendment rights
FCC FU!

What makes your ass so tight?
Does the religious Right
Rule over you?
Those few fanatic fools
And your outrageous rules
Kick freedom in the family jewels
FCC FU!

Soon those misguided kooks
Will all be burning books
With help from you
Why be so meddlesome?
Must you assume we’re dumb?
What is it you protect us from?
FCC FU!

Are we all so repressed
That one small glimpse of breast
Must be taboo?
One Janet Jackson boob
Botched up what’s on the tube
Bend over, we’re not using lube
FCC FU!

Game Over. I have reluctantly disabled the comments on my blog because a small number of self-indulgent spammers and neer do wells with nothing to say about any of the issues I raise or report on, have stepped up the volume of their sniping and SPA's--Stupid personal attacks. I am sure readers find them as offensive and adolescent as I do. All hide behind anonymous emails and never really want replies or a dialogue. Snarky is one thing; insults another.

Your comments are welcome and I am happy to post them in the blog. Share comments, questions and criticisms by emailing me here.

    Thank you for understanding.

"Curtailment of free speech is rationalized on grounds that a more compelling American tradition forbids criticism of the government when the nation is at war...Nothing can be more destructive of our fundamental democratic traditions than the vicious effort to silence dissenters."
