In the wake of 9/11, Nile Rodgers brought a huge cast of R&B legends into the studio to rerecord his classic song "We Are Family" as a tribute to America's unity in ethnic diversity.

Polarity/1's Polar Levine was asked to produce a remix of the song for a compilation of remixes released by Tommy Boy Records. The remix is a funk/hip hop track including snatches of interviews and singing taken from Danny Schechter's film, The Making of We Are Family.

The film documents the recording sessions of "We Are Family" and the tragic events leading to Nile Rodgers' decision to record the song. The interviews and vocal samples include Rodgers, Schechter, Dionne Warwick, Luther Vandross, Rosie Perez, Joan Osborne, Spike Lee and many others. A FAMILY SITUATION is an audio documentary companion to Schechter's film.
